ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is examining the health of bones and the composition of bone marrow in teenagers who have recently been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, which is a type of inflammatory bowel disease. The researchers want to understand if these adolescents have more fat in their bone marrow compared to healthy teens, and how this might affect their bone strength. To do this, they will use different types of imaging tests to look at both the bone marrow and bone density. This study aims to gather information over time to see how Crohn's disease might impact bone health in young people.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adolescents aged 12 to 17 who have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease within the last three months, or they can be healthy teens who match in age and gender. Participants will undergo various imaging tests and may be asked questions about their health. It’s important to note that some individuals, like those with certain chronic diseases or on specific medications that affect bone health, or those with a history of claustrophobia, may not be able to participate. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it could provide valuable insights into how Crohn's disease affects bone health in young patients.
