ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a special weight loss program called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on adults who are both obese and experiencing depression. The goal is to find out if this program can help improve eating habits, support weight loss, improve mood, and reduce the risk of serious health issues like heart disease and diabetes. The study will involve around 80 adults, where half will participate in the CBT-based program, which includes group and individual counseling sessions over a year, while the other half will receive standard care for obesity.
To qualify for the study, participants need to be between 18 and 65 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) over 35, and have a diagnosed depression. It's important to note that individuals with certain serious mental health conditions, significant substance abuse issues, or other health problems that could interfere with weight loss won't be eligible. Participants can expect regular check-ins to discuss their progress and complete questionnaires about their eating habits and mood, as well as undergo some health measurements like weight and blood tests. This trial is currently recruiting participants and aims to provide valuable insights into how CBT can support weight management for those dealing with obesity and depression.
