ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a special test called thromboelastography can help understand blood clotting problems in patients who have suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Traumatic brain injuries can lead to serious complications related to how well the blood clots, which can affect recovery. The researchers want to see if using this test can identify these blood clotting issues and their impact on patient outcomes. If successful, this could lead to new ways to predict and manage these complications in the future.
To participate in the study, patients must be admitted to the hospital within 24 hours of their head injury and have a specific type of injury that primarily affects the brain. They cannot have any prior neurological conditions or known bleeding disorders, nor can they be on certain blood-thinning medications before the injury. Participants will undergo the thromboelastography test and will be monitored to see how well their blood is clotting and how it affects their recovery. This trial is currently recruiting and welcomes patients of all genders aged between 18 and 80.
