ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of retreating root canal treatments either in one visit or two visits for patients with ongoing tooth problems caused by previous root canal treatments. The goal is to see if there is a difference in success rates between the two approaches over a follow-up period of up to 10 years. Researchers want to find out if treating in one visit is just as effective as treating in two visits when it comes to resolving issues like infection around the roots of teeth.
To participate in the trial, patients should be between the ages of 18 and 80 and must have a specific type of tooth problem called apical periodontitis, which is an infection at the tip of the tooth root. Participants need to be able to understand the study and agree to follow all instructions. However, people with certain health conditions, like diabetes or pregnancy, or those with significant oral issues that would make retreatment impossible, cannot take part. If you join the study, you can expect to receive either one or two appointments for your treatment, and the research team will monitor your progress over time to see how well the treatment works.
