ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying Anorexia Nervosa (AN), a serious eating disorder that mainly affects women and involves severe food restriction, which can lead to life-threatening health issues. The researchers want to understand why some patients struggle to recover and often relapse after treatment. They will look into various factors, such as brain function and genetic influences, by conducting tests on 125 women diagnosed with AN who are receiving intensive inpatient care. These patients will be evaluated at three different times: when they are admitted, after they gain weight, and six months after they leave the hospital. The study will also include 100 healthy women for comparison.
To participate in this study, women must meet certain criteria, including having a body mass index (BMI) below 18.5 and being able to speak and understand French. Participants can expect to undergo several assessments, including cognitive tests, blood tests, and brain scans, to help identify the factors that contribute to the challenges of recovery from AN. It's important to note that the study is currently recruiting participants, and those interested should be aware of specific exclusion criteria, such as serious physical illnesses or being pregnant.
