ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to treat fractures (breaks) in the base of the finger bones (called the base phalanx) for people aged 65 and older. The researchers want to find out if using a splint and encouraging early movement of the fingers leads to better recovery and more flexibility compared to a surgical method that involves pinning the bones together.

To participate in the study, you need to have a specific type of finger fracture, but if your fracture is older than two weeks or if it has certain complications (like a more severe break or damage to other fingers), you wouldn't be eligible. If you choose to join, you’ll be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups, and you can expect to follow up with the medical team to assess your recovery. This study is important because it could help determine the best way to support healing and regain movement in injured fingers.
