ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Steroids After Spine Fusion Surgery," is looking at how low-dose corticosteroids, which are a type of medication, can help patients after they have spine fusion surgery. The goal is to see if these steroids can improve things like pain control, how long patients stay in the hospital, and how quickly they can get back to normal activities, including having a bowel movement. This trial is for adults aged 50 and older who will be having thoracic or lumbar spine fusion surgery performed by a Spine Center surgeon.
If you are considering participating in this trial, it’s important to know that not everyone will qualify. For example, if you are already taking steroids, are pregnant, have difficulty making decisions, or are currently incarcerated, you won’t be able to join. Participants in the trial will be monitored closely to see how well the steroids work and what effects they have on recovery. This research could provide valuable information to help future patients after spine surgery.
