ClinConnect Summary
The Melatonin Adolescent Research Study is looking into how melatonin, a natural sleep hormone, can help improve sleep and daytime functioning in teenagers who have trouble sleeping due to behavioral issues. This includes problems like difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early. The study is open to adolescents aged 13 to 17 years who have these sleep difficulties and have never taken melatonin before. Participants should be able to read and write in English and not have any significant health issues that could interfere with their sleep.
If you or someone you know is interested in participating, you can expect to take melatonin supplements during the study while being monitored for changes in sleep patterns and how you feel during the day. The researchers aim to find out if melatonin can be an effective solution for improving sleep in teens who struggle with it. It's important to note that the study is not accepting participants who are overweight, taking certain medications, or have a history of specific health conditions that affect sleep.
