ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how obesity affects oral health, specifically looking at conditions like gum disease and tooth decay. Researchers want to understand the link between being overweight and problems in the mouth, as well as how losing weight—through either lifestyle changes or surgery—can improve oral health. They will gather information from 400 adult patients who are referred to the Obesity Centre at Haukeland University Hospital in Norway. These patients will undergo thorough evaluations to create a personalized weight-loss plan and will have their oral health checked before, and then again at 3, 12, and 18 months after their treatment.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be adults who are considered obese and have been referred to the Obesity Clinic. If someone is interested in participating, they will need to agree to be part of the study. This research aims to shed light on how weight management can positively impact not only general health but also oral health, which is a crucial aspect of overall well-being.
