ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new approach to help patients with end-stage kidney disease who are on hemodialysis, a treatment that helps remove waste and excess fluid from the blood. The trial aims to see if a technique called interdialytic peritoneal ultrafiltration can effectively remove extra sodium from the body between regular hemodialysis sessions. Sodium can build up in the tissues of these patients and can affect their health. In this study, 10 participants will have a small tube, called a catheter, placed in their abdomen to allow for additional sodium removal twice a week for three weeks. Researchers will check how well this method works by using a special imaging technique and will monitor patients for any symptoms or changes in blood pressure to ensure safety.

To be eligible for the trial, participants should be at least 18 years old and have specific issues related to sodium management, such as gaining too much weight between dialysis sessions or struggling to achieve their target weight with current treatments. Participants will receive close supervision during the study, and their overall health and safety will be carefully monitored. It’s important to note that individuals with certain medical conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes or active infections, will not be able to participate.
