ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a treatment called cognitive remediation for patients in forensic mental health care. Many of these patients face challenges with their thinking skills, especially in areas that help with decision-making and planning. Cognitive remediation involves exercises designed to strengthen these thinking skills, along with coaching to support participants. The goal of the trial is to see if this approach can help improve not just cognitive abilities, but also daily functioning and overall mental health in inpatients.
To participate in this trial, you must be between 18 and 55 years old, be able to read and speak English fluently, and currently be an inpatient in the Forensic Treatment Unit. However, individuals with intellectual disabilities or severe brain injuries that require hospitalization and rehabilitation are not eligible. If you qualify and decide to join, you can expect to engage in various cognitive exercises and receive coaching to improve your executive functions, which could lead to better outcomes in your daily life and mental health.
