ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how antibiotics given during a stem cell transplant (SCT) might affect the balance of bacteria in the gut, known as the microbiota. Researchers want to understand if the antibiotics change the types and amounts of bacteria over time, which could be important for the recovery process. The study is currently recruiting participants between the ages of 18 and 80 who are receiving either allogeneic (from a donor) or autologous (from themselves) stem cell transplants for blood-related cancers or bone marrow issues.
If you or a loved one is eligible, you'll be asked to provide samples before, during, and after the transplant to see how your gut bacteria may change with antibiotic treatment. This could help improve care for future patients undergoing similar procedures. Participants can expect regular follow-ups and a supportive environment throughout the study. Your involvement could contribute valuable information to help understand the impacts of antibiotics on recovery after stem cell transplants.
