ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well different methods can detect atrial fibrillation (AFib) in patients who have had a stroke but were not diagnosed with AFib when they first came to the hospital. Atrial fibrillation is a heart condition that can increase the risk of having another stroke. The study will compare traditional 24-hour Holter monitoring with two newer methods: checking heart rhythms three times a day and using a special patch that monitors heart activity for three days. The goal is to find out which method is better at detecting AFib.
To participate in this trial, you need to be someone who has recently had a brain infarction (a type of stroke) and has not been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation before coming to the hospital. You should also be able to give informed consent and not have an implantable loop recorder. However, if you have difficulties using a specific heart monitoring device called KardiaMobile, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo these different heart monitoring methods and contribute to important research that could help improve care for stroke patients in the future.
