ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new device called the VT-Patch, which is a small patch that can continuously monitor important health signs, like heart rate and temperature, in children who are in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Right now, there aren't any similar devices for kids, and this study aims to see how accurately the VT-Patch measures these vital signs compared to the standard monitoring equipment used in the unit. Children aged 0 to 18 years who are admitted to St. Justine's Hospital's PICU and will be monitored for at least 24 hours may be eligible to participate.
If your child joins the study, they will wear the VT-Patch for 8 hours while their vital signs are being recorded. The researchers will check how well the patch works by comparing its readings to the existing monitoring system. This is an important step to help identify children who might need extra care after leaving the PICU. It's also important to know that children who have had recent heart or chest surgery, have certain skin issues, or if there is no parental consent, cannot participate in the study. The goal of this research is to improve how we monitor children's health after they leave intensive care.
