ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how a brain stimulation technique called transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can help people with schizophrenia who experience distressing auditory hallucinations, which are often described as hearing voices that others cannot hear. The researchers want to understand how the brain's ability to change and adapt—known as neuroplasticity—affects how well patients respond to tDCS treatment. By studying brain activity and communication, the trial aims to discover whether certain characteristics of patients can predict how they will respond to this treatment, potentially allowing for more personalized care in the future.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must have a diagnosis of schizophrenia and experience significant auditory hallucinations. They should also be right-handed and able to provide written consent. Unfortunately, individuals with certain emergency psychiatric conditions, other psychiatric diagnoses, or those who are pregnant cannot participate. If you join the study, you will undergo brain imaging and other assessments to help researchers learn more about the brain's functioning before and after tDCS treatment, contributing to a better understanding of how to support others with similar challenges.
