ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how having obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) might affect patients undergoing a specific type of surgery known as elective aorto-bifemoral bypass, which is often performed for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). The researchers want to find out if patients with OSA experience fewer complications and less damage to their organs during and after surgery compared to those without OSA. They believe that the severity of OSA may be linked to the level of injury caused by the surgery, which can sometimes lead to serious problems afterward.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and scheduled for the elective surgery mentioned above. However, if you require emergency surgery, are having a re-operation, or are already using a CPAP machine for known OSA, you won't be able to join the study. If you decide to take part, you can expect to be monitored for any complications post-surgery, and your health will be carefully assessed to see how having OSA impacts your recovery. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and your involvement could help improve understanding of how OSA affects surgical outcomes.
