ClinConnect Summary
This is an observational study from the University of Pécs in Hungary called the FeverFriend project. It uses a mobile app (FeverFriend) and a web knowledge base to help families document fever episodes and follow evidence-based guidance. Researchers want to see if using the app can improve people’s understanding of fever, reduce unnecessary use of fever medicines and antibiotics, and lower the number of doctor visits. The study collects information about fever events in real life, including how high the fever is, how long it lasts, hydration, medications used, and caregiver feelings and actions during the fever.
Who can join? People aged 0 to 100 years who can download and register the FeverFriend app (the program mainly targets children 0–18 years) and who are in home or outpatient care. You must be able to give consent and agree to privacy rules. Exclusions include having a severe underlying illness or needing hospitalization. Participants will log details of each fever event for up to about 5 days, answer questions about caregiver mood and confidence, and provide a follow-up check about 48 hours after the fever ends. There is no separate control group—everyone uses the FeverFriend app and knowledge base as part of the same program.
