ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how the brain behaves during epileptic seizures, specifically in patients with a type of epilepsy called focal epilepsy that doesn't respond to medication. Researchers will use special electrodes implanted in the brain to record brain activity. This will help them learn not only about seizures but also about other important brain functions, like sleep and thinking skills, while the patients are undergoing tests before possible surgery.
To be eligible for this study, patients must have focal drug-resistant epilepsy and will need to be evaluated with these electrodes at a specific hospital. They should be able to give their consent to participate, meaning they understand the study and agree to take part. However, some individuals won't be able to join, such as those with certain medical conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and minors. This study is still in the planning stages and hasn’t started recruiting participants yet. If you or a loved one are considering this, it could provide valuable insights into epilepsy and how to better treat it.
