ClinConnect Summary
**Summary of the FIND-IT Clinical Trial**
The FIND-IT trial is a study designed to find out how many people coming to the hospital for acute care may have undiagnosed type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes have a higher risk of serious problems, such as heart failure and heart attacks. This trial aims to screen patients over the age of 30 who visit the Accident and Emergency department or the Acute Medical Unit at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. Researchers will check blood samples, which are already being taken for other medical reasons, to see if patients have high blood sugar levels that indicate diabetes or pre-diabetes.
To participate in this study, you need to be 30 years or older and not have type 1 diabetes. If you join, the blood test will help identify if you have diabetes or pre-diabetes, which means you can receive the right treatment sooner. By identifying these conditions, the trial aims to improve patient outcomes and reduce the overall burden on the healthcare system. If you or a family member are visiting the hospital and meet the eligibility criteria, you may be approached to take part in this important study.
