ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the best way to treat patients with thyroid cancer, particularly those who have a cancerous nodule on one side of their thyroid and a non-cancerous (benign) nodule on the other side. Traditionally, doctors might remove the entire thyroid gland (total thyroidectomy), but this trial is exploring whether a less invasive option, called lobectomy, which involves removing only the cancerous part, is enough. Some patients worry about the benign nodule being left behind, but researchers believe that a technique called radiofrequency ablation (RFA) can help shrink these nodules without major complications, potentially leading to better overall quality of life.

To join this trial, participants should be adults diagnosed with thyroid cancer on one side and a benign nodule on the other side, with certain size and location criteria for the nodules. They should not have had previous neck surgery or radiation therapy. Those who participate can expect to undergo a lobectomy and possibly the RFA procedure, helping to manage their thyroid condition while reducing anxiety and improving their quality of life. The trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders, aged 65 to 74 and 27 to 93.
