ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Inspiratory Effort in COVID-19" is studying how patients with COVID-19 who are experiencing severe breathing difficulties respond to a type of breathing support that doesn’t require a ventilator. The researchers want to measure pressure in the esophagus, which can help them understand how well the lungs are working during this treatment.
To participate in this study, individuals need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 or 29 and 219, and must be diagnosed with COVID-19 and experiencing acute respiratory failure while receiving non-invasive breathing support. However, those who need immediate intubation (a procedure where a tube is inserted into the airway) or have chronic breathing problems are not eligible. Participants can expect to undergo some tests related to their breathing while receiving the standard care they need for COVID-19. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it's an important step in figuring out how to better support patients with serious respiratory issues caused by COVID-19.
