ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the use of antibiotics to help treat severe periodontal disease, which is an infection that affects the gums and can lead to tooth loss. Traditional treatment mainly involves cleaning the teeth to remove harmful bacteria, but sometimes this isn't enough. The researchers want to find the best way to use antibiotics alongside these cleaning procedures to eliminate certain bacteria more effectively. They will look at how the body processes these medications over different treatment lengths—either 3 days or 7 days—to ensure that patients receive the right amount without causing other health issues.

To participate in this study, individuals need to be between 18 and 80 years old and require periodontal treatment that includes antibiotics. They should have significant gum issues, like pockets deeper than 6mm, and at least 30% of their teeth affected. However, certain people cannot join, such as those with serious health conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and anyone who has recently taken antibiotics. Participants can expect to attend regular check-ups and will help researchers gather important information about how antibiotics work in treating their gum disease.
