ClinConnect Summary
The ACL Bone Health and Loading Study is looking at how bone health affects the way our legs handle weight during activities after an ACL tear. This study will use a method called Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) to help understand if it can help prevent bone loss and improve how well athletes perform after surgery. The researchers believe that athletes using BFR will lose less bone and do better in their physical activities compared to those who do not use this method.
To be part of the study, athletes need to be between 16 and 22 years old and have a confirmed ACL tear through an MRI. The study is currently recruiting participants, and it’s open to all genders. However, there are some important criteria that could prevent someone from joining, such as having cognitive impairments or other serious injuries. Participants can expect to engage in specific rehabilitation programs at Parkview Athletic Rehab, and their progress will be monitored closely throughout the study. If you're interested and meet the criteria, this could be a great opportunity to help advance our understanding of recovery after an ACL injury!
