ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is investigating how different treatments affect blood flow and oxygen levels in the brain of critically ill patients with septic shock, a serious condition often caused by severe infections. The study aims to understand how factors like blood pressure and carbon dioxide levels, which are important for brain health, can change in these patients. By examining these effects, researchers hope to learn more about the brain's blood flow and its role in conditions like septic encephalopathy, which can cause confusion and other neurological symptoms in patients with sepsis.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults aged 18 years or older who are on a ventilator and sedated within the first 72 hours of starting mechanical ventilation. They should also be receiving one of the treatments being studied, as determined by their doctor. However, individuals with certain medical conditions, such as severe neurological issues or specific heart problems, will not be able to participate. If enrolled, participants can expect to undergo assessments that monitor their brain blood flow and oxygenation during their treatment. This study is currently not recruiting participants but aims to provide valuable insights into patient care in critical situations.
