ClinConnect Summary
The Prospective Observational Prolapse Study is looking into how different treatments for vaginal prolapse affect women. Vaginal prolapse occurs when pelvic organs slip down and bulge into the vagina, often causing discomfort or other symptoms. In this study, researchers will compare two main treatment options: surgical repair and using a vaginal pessary, which is a device that helps support the pelvic organs. They will ask participants to fill out questionnaires to share their experiences and any issues they may encounter with either treatment.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be women older than 18 who are experiencing symptoms of vaginal prolapse. However, those who have had previous treatments for this condition or cannot understand Dutch will not be able to participate. Women who join the study can expect to provide feedback on their symptoms and treatment experiences, which will help the researchers understand which methods work best and any potential problems that might arise with the pessary. This research aims to improve treatment options for women facing this condition.
