ClinConnect Summary
The "Project THINK" clinical trial is studying how different thinking skills and brain functions relate to eating habits and weight changes in children who are overweight or have binge-eating disorder. Researchers want to understand how these factors work together over time, which could help create better ways to prevent and treat these issues in kids. This study is important because it aims to find out why some children struggle with controlling their eating and weight, and how we can support them effectively.
The trial is currently recruiting children aged between 8 to 12 years old, and both boys and girls can participate. To be eligible, children should not be taking any medications that affect their weight or appetite and must not have any serious medical or mental health conditions, except for binge-eating disorder. Participants should also be able to understand English well enough to read and follow study materials. If your child joins the study, they will be part of a team looking to improve our understanding of weight and eating behaviors, which may help guide future treatments.
