ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a procedure called left atrial appendage closure (LAO) to see if it can help patients with chronic atrial fibrillation who also suffer from a bladder condition known as radiation cystitis. Radiation cystitis can cause troublesome symptoms like blood in the urine (hematuria), which can be very distressing and often requires emergency treatment. The goal of the study is to find out if LAO can reduce the number of hematuria episodes in these patients and also potentially lower the number of hospital visits and invasive treatments they may need.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be over 18 years old, have radiation cystitis with hematuria, and be on anticoagulants (blood thinners) for atrial fibrillation. Participants will be monitored for three years, allowing researchers to gather important information about the effects of the procedure. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to provide insight into a treatment option that could improve quality of life for patients facing these challenging health issues.
