ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how brain activity relates to psychiatric and memory disorders. Researchers want to understand the changes in brain function in patients who have epilepsy and are undergoing a specific monitoring procedure called SEEG (stereo-electroencephalography) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During the study, participants will answer questionnaires about their psychiatric symptoms, take part in memory tasks, and may receive electrical stimulation through electrodes placed in their brains. By looking at the brain activity during these activities, the researchers hope to find new ways to diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be at least 18 years old, speak English, and be undergoing SEEG monitoring for their epilepsy. Unfortunately, individuals under 18 or those who cannot understand the instructions for the questionnaires will not be able to participate. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to help improve our understanding of how brain activity affects mental health, which could lead to better treatment options in the future.
