ClinConnect Summary
The PASCALE trial is studying how to better assess and manage pain in patients with advanced cancer using machine learning technology. The goal is to improve the quality of life for these patients by using telemedicine—essentially, healthcare delivered remotely through technology. This trial aims to develop better ways to measure pain, which is often very challenging in cancer patients. By gathering information from patients and healthcare providers, researchers hope to create systems that can automatically recognize and evaluate pain levels.
To participate in this study, patients must be over 18 years old, receiving home care for advanced cancer with a life expectancy of one year or less, and currently receiving treatment for cancer-related pain. They also need to be able to provide consent. Unfortunately, those under 18, unable to sign consent due to reading or writing difficulties, or with certain cognitive impairments are not eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to share your experiences and help researchers develop new tools that could lead to better pain management for cancer patients in the future.
