ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how fasting affects a process in our bodies called autophagy, which helps in cleaning out damaged cells and can contribute to improved health. Researchers want to understand how fasting influences autophagy in people with chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and metabolic syndrome, compared to healthy individuals. By observing how autophagy works during fasting, the study aims to learn more about its role in health and disease.
To participate, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have either rheumatoid arthritis, metabolic syndrome, or be a healthy volunteer. Participants will be treated in the hospital for the first 24 hours and will need to provide written consent to join. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it’s important to note that people who have communication difficulties, cognitive disorders, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are already part of another clinical trial cannot participate. If you join, you can expect to help researchers learn more about how fasting can impact health, which may lead to better treatments in the future.
