ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how racing thoughts affect people with insomnia disorder. Insomnia is when someone has trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, and many people with this condition report that their minds race with thoughts when they get into bed. The researchers want to understand this better by using a questionnaire called the Racing and Crowded Thoughts Questionnaire. They will compare the racing thoughts of adults with insomnia to those of healthy individuals and patients with bipolar disorder during episodes of heightened mood. The study will also look at how these thoughts change throughout the day and how much they contribute to the severity of insomnia.

To participate in the trial, you need to be between 18 and 70 years old and have a diagnosis of chronic primary insomnia. However, if you have other conditions that cause insomnia, like sleep apnea or bipolar disorder, or if you are taking certain medications for mental health, you may not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to fill out the questionnaire and help researchers learn more about the connection between racing thoughts and insomnia, which may lead to better treatments in the future.
