ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether a specific type of tendon, called the semitendinosus tendon, can be used as a replacement for the meniscus, which is a cushioning structure in the knee. When the meniscus is removed due to injury or surgery, it can lead to poor knee function and increase the risk of developing arthritis in the future. The researchers want to see if using this tendon can help improve knee function and reduce symptoms for patients who have had part or all of their meniscus removed.
To be eligible for this study, participants should have had a meniscectomy (surgery to remove part or all of the meniscus) and be experiencing symptoms related to that, such as pain or swelling. They should not have significant arthritis or ongoing issues with their anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The trial is open to individuals of all genders, aged between 18 and 60 years. If you participate, you will be monitored to see how well the semitendinosus tendon works as a meniscal transplant, helping to provide insights into a potential new treatment option for knee problems.
