ClinConnect Summary
The POWER-study is a clinical trial designed to explore how a special exercise program can help children and teenagers recover their physical fitness after finishing cancer treatment. Specifically, the trial focuses on a 12-week exercise routine that is moderate to high in intensity, starting just six weeks after the patients have completed their acute cancer treatment. This study aims to see if this exercise can improve their cardiorespiratory fitness, which is important for overall health and physical activity.
To participate in this trial, children and adolescents aged 7 to 23 years who have recently completed their cancer treatment and are receiving follow-up care at Helios Hospital Krefeld may be eligible. Participants will need to have their parents' consent and be able to follow the training program. However, those younger than 7 or older than 23, or those with certain medical conditions that prevent them from exercising, will not be able to participate. If eligible, participants can expect to engage in a structured exercise program that may help them regain strength and improve their overall well-being after treatment.
