ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new technique called indocyanine green (ICG) angiography, which may help doctors find and protect parathyroid glands during total thyroidectomy surgery. The parathyroid glands are important for regulating calcium levels in the body, and damage to them during surgery can lead to a condition called hypoparathyroidism. This can cause various health issues and often requires lifelong treatment, which can significantly affect a person's quality of life. By using ICG angiography, the hope is to lower the chances of this complication and improve patient outcomes after surgery.
To participate in this trial, you must be between 65 and 74 years old and scheduled for a total thyroidectomy. You also need to be able to provide consent and be part of a social security program. Unfortunately, people under 18, those who cannot give consent, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and individuals with certain medical histories or allergies to ICG cannot participate. If you join the trial, you can expect to have your surgery as planned while contributing to important research that could help improve care for future patients.
