ClinConnect Summary
The SurgeCon trial is studying a new way to improve how emergency departments (EDs) manage patient flow to reduce wait times. Emergency rooms often get overcrowded, leading to long waits for patients who need care. In Canada, particularly in Newfoundland and Labrador, wait times have become a serious issue. The SurgeCon project involves using a special software platform and other strategies to help streamline processes in the ED. In a pilot test, this approach was able to cut wait times by 32%, making it easier for patients to get the care they need.
If you visit any of the four selected emergency departments during the study, you might be eligible to participate. There are no specific exclusions, so anyone coming to these EDs can take part. As a participant, you can expect to see changes in how the emergency department operates, which aims to make your experience quicker and more efficient. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it hopes to make a positive impact on emergency care for everyone involved.
