ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new method to check if a breathing tube, called an endotracheal tube (ETT), is placed correctly in patients during surgery. Misplacing this tube can lead to serious problems, like breathing difficulties. The usual way to check if the tube is in the right spot is by using a stethoscope, but this method isn't very accurate. Other techniques, like X-rays or specialized cameras, are more reliable but can be expensive and take a lot of time to set up. The trial will test a new stethoscope system called Core stethoscope, which may help in quickly and accurately confirming the proper placement of the tube.

To participate in the trial, patients must be under 18 years old and undergoing surgery that requires an ETT. Parents will need to give consent for their children to join. However, patients who might have a difficult airway, serious lung issues, or major heart problems won’t be eligible. If chosen for the trial, participants will help researchers understand whether this new stethoscope can improve the safety of placing breathing tubes in urgent situations.
