ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI), which is a serious gut infection that can happen after antibiotic use. The researchers want to understand if certain factors, like the types of bacteria in the gut and genetic traits, can help predict which patients are more likely to have CDI come back after treatment. They will collect blood samples for genetic testing and stool samples to study the gut bacteria of patients who are diagnosed with CDI at participating hospitals. The goal is to create a tool that helps doctors identify patients at higher risk of having their infection return, allowing for better management and care.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old and have a new case of CDI diagnosed according to specific guidelines. There are no other exclusion criteria, which means most people with CDI can potentially join. Participants can expect to be part of a program focused on improving the detection and treatment of CDI recurrences. Throughout the study, researchers will carefully analyze data to develop and test a predictive tool that could ultimately help many patients manage their health better.
