ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding whooping cough (also known as pertussis) in children who are treated in outpatient settings, meaning they visit a doctor without being admitted to a hospital. Researchers want to learn more about the effectiveness of different types of pertussis vaccines, especially the acellular vaccine introduced in 2002. They will be looking at children under 18 who have symptoms of whooping cough and have had a test ordered by a doctor. The study aims to see how well the vaccines work, particularly in light of new vaccination schedules introduced in France in recent years.
To be eligible for this trial, children must be under 18 years old and have a suspected case of whooping cough. However, children who are not showing symptoms but live with someone who has been confirmed to have pertussis, or those for whom a doctor did not suspect the diagnosis, cannot participate. If enrolled, participants will help researchers gather important information that could improve vaccination strategies and ultimately protect children from whooping cough more effectively.
