ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the use of tranexamic acid, a medication that helps reduce bleeding, in children undergoing specific hip surgeries called acetabular osteotomies and proximal femoral osteotomies. These surgeries help correct problems with the hip joint but often lead to blood loss, which sometimes requires blood transfusions. The goal of the study is to see if tranexamic acid can help minimize this blood loss during surgery, making the procedure safer for kids.
To participate in this trial, children aged 1 to 18 who are generally healthy (classified as ASA I or II) and scheduled for one of these surgeries may be eligible. However, children with certain health conditions, such as bleeding disorders, anemia, or kidney issues, cannot join the study. If a child participates, they will receive either the medication or a placebo (a non-active treatment) during their surgery, and doctors will monitor their blood loss. This trial is currently recruiting participants and aims to improve surgical outcomes for young patients.
