ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Spectroscopic Evaluation of Middle Ear Infection," is looking at a new way to diagnose middle ear infections, which are very common in young children. These infections can cause pain and may lead to surgery if they occur frequently. Currently, doctors often check the ear by looking at the eardrum with a special tool called an otoscope, but this method can sometimes be inaccurate. In this study, researchers want to use a special light technique to get a clearer picture of the eardrum and the middle ear, which may help improve how these infections are diagnosed.
To participate in this trial, you need to be either a child or an adult who has been diagnosed with a middle ear infection and is scheduled for surgery. Unfortunately, pregnant women and individuals who cannot provide consent due to cognitive issues cannot take part. If you join the study, you can expect to have your ear examined using this new light technique, which could lead to better understanding and treatment of your condition. The trial is currently recruiting participants of all ages, from newborns to older adults.
