ClinConnect Summary
The FES-ROW trial is studying the effects of a special rowing exercise program that uses electrical stimulation to help people with spinal cord injuries improve their physical fitness. Specifically, the trial focuses on adults with traumatic paraplegia, which means they have lost movement in their legs due to an injury to their spinal cord. Over six months, participants will use a rowing machine while receiving gentle electrical pulses to their lower limbs, aimed at increasing their aerobic fitness and overall health.
To join the study, you need to have a spinal cord injury that meets certain criteria and have had the injury for at least a year. It’s important that you can participate safely in physical activity and have a social security scheme. However, this trial is not open to everyone; for instance, those with certain medical conditions or who are currently involved in other studies cannot participate. If you qualify and choose to take part, you can expect to engage in a supportive environment designed to help improve your physical abilities over the course of six months.
