ClinConnect Summary
The CYMEVIE trial is studying congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in newborns in Vietnam. CMV is a common virus that can sometimes lead to health problems in babies if they are infected before birth. The goal of this study is to find out how many babies are born with this infection and to track their health for the first two years of life. Researchers will also look at how the virus behaves in pregnant women during their first trimester to understand its potential impact on the baby.
To participate in this trial, women must be Vietnamese and in their first trimester of pregnancy, and they need to give their consent to be part of the study. Unfortunately, women under 18, those who have had miscarriages or stillbirths, or those who deliver prematurely (before 34 weeks of pregnancy) cannot join. Participants can expect to receive regular check-ups and follow-ups to monitor their health and the health of their babies. This study aims to provide valuable insights that could help improve care for pregnant women and newborns in the future.
