ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called the LIFT Intervention, is studying a new program to help improve physical fitness in patients who are preparing for a liver transplant. Many patients with liver cirrhosis (a severe liver condition) experience frailty, which can make their recovery more difficult. The LIFT program includes personalized exercises created by a physical therapist, the use of a smartphone app to track workouts, daily text reminders to stay active, and regular phone check-ins for support. Additionally, some participants will take part in special motivational sessions to see if that helps them stick with the exercise plan.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults aged 65 to 74 with liver cirrhosis who are being evaluated for a liver transplant. They should be able to speak English and have access to a smartphone for video calls. The study will also include some patients who may have trouble making decisions due to their condition. However, individuals younger than 18, those needing outpatient physical therapy, or those unable to consent for themselves will not be included. Participants can expect a supportive environment aimed at improving their strength and overall health as they prepare for their transplant.
