ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how different treatments can help patients with head and neck cancer who are experiencing a painful condition called oral mucositis, which is often caused by radiation therapy. The study will look at how common and severe mucositis is, and it will compare the effectiveness of honey, a natural substance called Taiwan green propolis, and standard care in managing this condition. Researchers will also monitor changes in symptoms using a smart bracelet and analyze saliva and stool samples to understand the role of bacteria in the mouth and gut.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 20 years old, have been diagnosed with head and neck cancer, and be planning to receive radiation therapy. It’s important that you can understand and communicate in Mandarin or Taiwanese, as you’ll need to fill out some questionnaires. If you have allergies to honey or propolis, mental health issues, diabetes, or are nearing the end of life, you won’t be eligible for this study. Participants will help researchers gather valuable information that could lead to better treatments for mucositis in cancer patients.
