ClinConnect Summary
The SMART trial is looking into better ways to identify and treat a serious heart condition called ventricular tachycardia (VT), which can lead to life-threatening complications. In this study, researchers are examining data collected during heart procedures to see if a new method can find the areas that need treatment, without needing a specific recording of the patient’s VT. This could make it easier to target the right spots for treatment and improve outcomes for patients.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to have had a procedure for VT ablation between October 2014 and April 2021, have a specific type of heart condition called ischemic cardiomyopathy (often due to a previous heart attack), and have enough data collected during their procedure. Participants can expect their past procedure data to be analyzed to help develop this new identification method. It's important for potential participants to know that only those with complete data and quality recordings will be included, as this ensures the study's accuracy and reliability.
