ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a method to place a type of tube called a peripheral venous catheter, which is used to deliver medications and fluids to patients. Specifically, it is comparing two different techniques: one group of patients will have the catheter placed using a traditional method, while the other group will have the catheter placed with the help of ultrasound (a type of imaging that uses sound waves). The goal is to see if using ultrasound guidance makes it easier and reduces the number of attempts needed to successfully place the catheter.
To be eligible for this trial, patients need to be hospitalized in a post-emergency unit and require a venous catheter. They also need to be covered by social security or a similar health plan and must agree to participate by signing a consent form. Patients who are part of another study or have already had a catheter placed will not be included. If you or a loved one is considering participation, you can expect to receive extra support and communication during the catheter placement process, aiming to improve the overall experience and outcomes.
