ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how certain environmental pollutants may affect female fertility. Researchers want to understand the impact of substances like bisphenols (found in plastics), ethynylestradiol (a synthetic hormone), and glyphosate (a common herbicide) on the quality of eggs and the success rates of in vitro fertilization (IVF). The study will look at samples from women undergoing their first IVF treatment at a hospital in Tours, France, checking for these pollutants in their bodily fluids and how they relate to egg quality and pregnancy chances. Participants will also fill out a questionnaire about their lifestyles and undergo tests to measure signs of oxidative stress, which is a condition that can harm cells.
To be part of this study, women need to be between 18 and 43 years old and must be undergoing their first egg retrieval for IVF. Unfortunately, those who have had previous IVF attempts, are using donated eggs, or have specific medical procedures related to sperm use won’t be eligible. Participants can expect close monitoring and to contribute valuable information that could help improve understanding of how our environment might influence fertility.
