ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a special therapy program designed to help veterans who are dealing with anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and problematic drinking. The program uses a type of therapy called cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a way to help people understand and change their thoughts and behaviors. By treating both mental health issues and alcohol use together, the researchers hope to make it easier for veterans to improve their lives and well-being.
To participate in this trial, veterans need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and must have a current diagnosis of an anxiety disorder along with hazardous drinking habits. However, those who require immediate medical help for alcohol withdrawal, or have serious suicidal thoughts, psychotic symptoms, or significant memory or thinking issues that would make it hard to engage in weekly therapy are not eligible. If selected, participants can expect to join weekly therapy sessions aimed at helping them manage their anxiety and reduce their alcohol use in a supportive environment.
