ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well the vocal cords move in patients who have recently had an acute stroke, which is a sudden interruption of blood flow to the brain. The researchers will use ultrasound, a safe imaging technique, to evaluate this movement. They want to find out if there is a higher risk of choking or developing aspiration pneumonia, which is a lung infection that can happen when food or liquid accidentally goes into the lungs, during the first year after the stroke.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be adults who have had a stroke within the past month. Unfortunately, those who had a stroke more than a month ago cannot join. If you decide to participate, you will undergo ultrasound testing to check your vocal cord movement, and your health will be monitored for a year to see if you experience any choking or related complications. This trial aims to improve care for stroke patients by better understanding how swallowing and breathing may be affected after a stroke.
