Ovarian Cancer Endometrial Cancer Genomics Screening Early Detection

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is focused on finding new ways to detect endometrial and ovarian cancers earlier, especially in women who do not have obvious symptoms. Current methods for screening these cancers are not very effective, and by the time symptoms appear, the diseases are often at a more advanced stage. The research team at McGill has developed a new test that looks for specific genetic changes in cells taken from the uterus, as well as in saliva samples. This test aims to identify women who may be at higher risk for these cancers, potentially leading to earlier diagnosis and better outcomes.

To participate in the trial, women aged between 16 and 39 years old may be eligible if they can understand the study and give their consent. However, those who have had a hysterectomy, are pregnant or nursing, are undergoing fertility treatments, or have had recent uterine surgery cannot take part. Participants can expect to provide samples for testing and help researchers determine if this new approach can effectively identify cancer earlier in women’s health care. This study is currently recruiting participants, and the team hopes that this innovative screening method will improve early detection of these cancers in the general population.
